post graduation projects

I like the idea of creating a new life for a garment so I used unwearable Maharishi ‘snopants’ as well as dead stock fabric to create this jacket. I adapted the pattern from an earlier project by changing the sleeves, changing the panelling and cropping it.

custom bags

I created custom bags for myself and the maid of honour for a wedding. I decided the maid of honour bag needed to be understated and blend in with the bridal party colours, and so made it in matching colours with no additional embellishment and an adjustable strap. For the second bag I made it with a contrast lining as well as including some floral embroidery to enhance the piece. The pattern is an adapted version of the bag pattern from my graduate collection.

I used the print from the outfit I was wearing to embroider the bag, so that the outfit was cohesive. I then sewed it using my vintage Singer sewing machine (which I love to use!).

northern fashion week

I was invited to Northern Fashion Week to showcase my talent in both the graduate and sustainability catwalks. In honour of the event, I decided to take the opportunity to add to my collection with a third outfit.

making outfit three

I toiled and then made the outfit using remnants of the fabrics I had used for my other pieces. It was more challenging working without others as I like to bounce ideas off of my peers. I was overall thrilled with the outcome and it felt as though it really integrated well into the collection.

embellishing outfit three

I used a variety of sizes of beads to embellish this outfit so that it caught the light more noticeably. I love how this elevates the look and ties in the other outfits, as they all include subtle beading and embellishment too.
